The RAPID brand was founded in Ravenna, a city that has historically struggled with problems of flooding and land subsidence. In the past, our ancestors—thanks to their talent and ingenuity in finding simple solutions to complex problems—turned this challenge into an opportunity by designing a complex custom-built flood defense system for the city.
Ravenna, hidden amid marshy plains, surrounded by the branches of the Po River, and connected to the mainland by an elevated road, was virtually impregnable. This allowed the city to become the capital, between the 5th and 7th centuries, of Italy—first Roman, then Ostrogothic, and later Byzantine.
